Paper Piecing

Darlene is our host for the challenge at the Sisterhood this week. She is asking everyone to make a project using "Paper Piecing and/or Piercing". For my project, I chose to make a tag using one of the Prima Mixed Media Dolls.

First, I stamped the doll onto white card stock and colored her with SU markers. Then I stamped the image onto two different designer papers from DCWV's Floral Stack and cut out the head band and dress. I used flowered ribbon for the sash on the dress. Before adhering the doll to the tag, I used Tim Holtz Distressed Ink "Vintage Photo" to create an aged look to the tag. Once the doll was adhered, I used a sentiment from SU's "Fabulous Phrases" onto white card stock, punched it out with the small oval punch and layered it onto a larger oval punched from the designer paper. Daisiesand butterfly from K & Company were added to the corner and then the tag was finished off with SU Rose Red grosgrain ribbon.

If you love a good challenge head on over to the Sisterhood and join in the fun. Don't forget to check out all the wonderful inspiration by the sistahs and step-sistahs.

Until next time...

Seahorse Birthday

While going through my card stash, I realized I don't have many kids cards. So, this week that is going to be my focus (along with some challenge projects). I found a cute stamp set on sale at Michael's. Isn't this seahorse adorable?

The background paper and stamp set is from the Recollections line. The black card stock is Core'dinations and the purple satin ribbon is Darice Premium ribbon. I used black India ink to stamp the images and colored them with Stampin' Up Delighful Daffodil, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder markers.
I used DecoArt Glamour Dust glitter on the bubbles, seahorse and starfish, but it hard to see in the photos. The sentiment panel is adhered with dimensionals.

Well, off to play with more of these stamps.  Have a beautiful day!

Celebrate With Cake

I was so excited to have time to play with some of my new Stampin' Up papers and stamp sets. This card features the "Big Day" stamp set and the "Best Year Every" designer paper from the Sale-a-Bration promotion. Aren't these colors just yummy?

I used SU's Delighful Daffodil and Soft Sky markers to color the images, then mounted them onto chocolate card stock. Then I tied a piece of Darice yellow organdy ribbon around the card and added the white beaded flower to tie everything together. What a quick and easy card.

I have entered this card in the following challenges:

              613 Avenue Created - Anything Goes/Optional Twist - Birthday
One Stitch at a Time - Anything Goes - Birthday

SU's Sale-a-bration promotion ends March 31st, so contact an SU Demonstrator or go to the Stampin' Up website to order.

Thanks for spending some time with me today.

A Simple Hello

I have been thinking alot about friends and family the past few days. Maybe it's because of the cold, snowy weather and not being able to go out very much. So, today's project is a note card to send to a dear friend or family member I haven't seen or talked to in a while.

I started with an off white card stock base and added pink designer paper by DCWV. Next I added this beautiful Ivory ribbon, that reminds me of a trellis. The images can be found on Pinterest. The image mats were cut from Stampin' Up's "True Thyme" cardstock. I used a Stampin' Up corner punch to round the corners of the postcard image and the mat, then added dimensionals to give some height to the panel. The sentiment is from SU's "Four You" stamp set and was stamped with India black ink. The bow is chocolate satin ribbon and brown pearls were added in the corner. Using an SU punch for the stem and adding a pink ribbon flower finishes the project.

Don't forget to hop over to the Sisterhood and join in on the challenge. You have until 8pm (est), Sunday, February 22nd to enter.

Thanks for stopping by.

Jerrod's Birthday

Last fall, my son-in-law made two trips to South Africa for work. So what better way to celebrate his March 15th birthday, than with a card using Stampin' Ups "World Map" and "Word Traveler" stamp sets.

I started with a card base of burgundy, then added the World Map panel. Next I stamped the ship and added a black mat and adhered this layer to the map panel. Then I added the birds and waves using stamps by Stampscapes. The sentiment is from SU's "Feeling Sentimental" stamp set. Last, I added black gems and black woven ribbon for that final touch.

I hope Jerrod will like this card. Since he is a computer programmer, I think I will add a Best Buys gift card, so he can keep up with the computer world.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me today.

Lovely Lady Birthday

Brrrrr! Will these frigid temps ever go away? Hibernating in my craft room this morning. Thank goodness for space heaters.

I have another vintage card to share with you today. Found the frame background and image on Pinterest over the weekend and couldn't wait to use them.

Using a craft knife, I cut around the flowers, so I could insert the image into the corners. I added black card stock to the front of my card for the background. Stems were punched from Old Olive card stock and adhered to the back of pink wedding flowers. I used glue dots to add the flowers to the card. For extra embellishment, I added clear gems to the centers of the flat flowers and pink nylon ribbon.
The sentiment was stamped onto Colonial White card stock and matted onto a scalloped black circle. Materials used are listed below.

Materials:
Card stock: Close to My Heart Colonial White, Core'dinations Black
Stamp: Paper Wishes (www.practicalpublishing.com.au)
Ribbon: Darice

I have entered this card in the following challenges:

Inspiration Destination - Always Anything Goes
Whimsy Inspiration - Use a Sentiment

That's all for today.

Vintage Anniversary

Even though we have been having terrible weather here in Ohio, I find myself in a very good mood today. My hubby is off today and I will have my granddaughter for the afternoon. She such a sweet little girl and enjoys life to the fullest. Can hardly wait to see her.

Okay, enough of the grandma stuff, now for my project.  Once again, I found this beautiful image on Pinterest and thought it would make a beautiful anniversary card.

I started with a piece of Close To My Heart Colonial White card stock for the base and added designer paper from Scrappin' Creations for the backgound. The image is layered on a mat of SU True Thyme and Core'dinations Black. The sentiment is from Stamping Sensations "Perfectly Said" rubber stamp set. Paper flowers and silk wedding flowers were used to create the bouquet and Darice's pink nylon ribbon was tied around the sentiment band.

I am so happy with the finished piece. I love creating with vintage photos. One of these days, I will get out the photos of my mother's parents, who I never met and use them on projects. I have one picture of my father's grandfather that would be perfect for a masculine card.

I hope you like my project today. See you again soon.

Sheltering Tree

My hubby had to work till 8pm yesterday, so I was able to spend some time in my craft room. This stamp set is from Stampin' Up's Sale-a-bration catalog. It is called "Sheltering Tree". It includes stamps for every season and could become one of my favorite sets to use.

White card stock was used for the base, image panel and word strip. DCWV designer paper was used for the background. The mats were cut from Core'dinations light brown card stock. Using SU Chocolate ink, I stamped the bare tree. I used SU pumpkin pie, real red and olive green markers to make the leaves using the tamping method. I used SU's espresso marker to stamp the bike and the grass was done using SU always artichoke and wild wasabi markers. I found this rust checked ribbon in clearance bin for $1.00 a couple of years ago. I think it finishes this card off perfectly.

When I have time, I am going to use this stamp set to make cards for all the seasons. For summer and spring, there is a swing, bike and tent stamp. For fall, a rake and for winter a snowflake stamp.

Okay, time to get back to work. Wish I could hibernate in my craft room this week since the temps are only going to be in the single digits here in Northeast Ohio. Guess I'd better get my "long john's" out so I can pick up my granddaughter when her mom goes to work.

Be warm, stay safe and have a wonderful day.

Sweethearts and Roses

I am thrilled to be the hostess for the challenge at the Sisterhood this week. With Valentine's Day will soon be here, I am asking you to make a card or project for your sweetheart and please use roses somewhere on your creation. My husband is a sweet-aholic, so I created this candy box for him.

                                          Top

                                                                                                          Side

I painted a paper mache box with American Craft Snow White acrylic paint. The background paper and ticket panel are from K & Company's Valentine Pad. The image was found on Pinterest and framed with black paper cut with Sissix dies Labels Nine.  Heart ribbon and metallic red ribbon were used on the side. The roses and white pearl spray were from the wedding department at Pat Catan's. The keys are from Joanns Craft Store. \\

In the past,I have always bought him a bag of M & M's. I think he will be pleasantly surprised with his gift this year.

Okay. Put on those thinking caps, head on over to the Sisterhood for more inspiration from the sistah's and join in on the fun. You might be the next Top Award Winner.

Kitty Birthday

In the mail on Friday, I received my new stamp and die set from The Stamps of Life.  Stephanie Barnard is the owner and creator of the stamps and dies. She offers subscriptions to three different clubs. I belong to the stamp club and the stamp & die club. Anyone can order from her site, but club members get special pricing on her sets. They are so much fun to use when the crafting bug hits.

Now for my project.

Materials:
Card stock: White, SU Ballet Blue, Black
Stamps & Dies: Cat2Stamp - The Stamps of Life
Ink: Black India Ink
Ribbon: Black satin

The inside sentiment says "Wishing you a purrfect birthday!" I love this cute little kitty. This set has 12 stamps and 6 matching dies. Hop on over to "The Stamps of Life" and check out the other fabulous stamps and dies Stephanie has to offer.

Don't forget to stop by the Sisterhood tomorrow for another fabulous challenge. It's my turn to play hostess and I am anxious to see what projects you create.

Thanks for visiting with me today.

Wedding Hearts

A beautiful day here in Northeast Ohio. The temperature is finally above freezing and the snow is beginning to melt. I spent time in my craft room today working on cards for craft shows. I created this wedding card with a new embossing folder from Darice called "Diagonal Hearts". Isn't this foil paper by Reflections gorgeous? It is hard to tell from the picture, but it is a bright magenta and embossed really well.

One of the hearts was embossed with SU Dotted Swiss embossing folder and the other heart was embossed with an embossing folder that I unfortunately can't remember the name of the company or the folder. Using glue dots, I adhered ribbon roses to the center of the hearts. The sentiment is from TPC studio's "Brush Stroke Greetings" cling stamps.

I used this beautiful flower embossed white satin ribbon by offray to add a touch of elegance. I will definitely be making more of these cards with the two packs of foil paper I purchased.

I hope you like my project for today. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I love sharing my creations with you.

Have a great day!

Terri

Friendly Hearts

Today's project is a card I created for my stamp group swap next week. The original idea was to make a Valentine's Day card. When I finished the first card, I realized it could also be used for "Thank You", "Thinking of You", or a friend's birthday. All the materials used for this card are from Stampin' Up, except the ribbon and black card stock. I have listed the materials below the photo.

Materials:

Card Stock: SU Whisper White, Rose Red, Core'dinations Black
Stamp Set: SU "I (Heart) Hearts
Ink: SU Rose Red
Embossing Folder: SU "Decorative Dots"
Ribbon: White Organdy

I decided to leave the card blank since it could be used for other occasions. Wouldn't this card be pretty in purple or blue? I was thinking maybe I would do one in yellow, but not sure if the yellow would show up on the white. What do you think?

I have 3 days that I don't have to babysit and since it is sooooo cold out, I think I will hibernate in my craft room. The weatherman is calling for more snow this weekend. We already have 10" of snow here in Northeast Ohio. COME ON SPRING!

Have a beatutiful day everyone!

Butterfly Sympathy 2

Welcome back friends. My next door neighbor kindly cleaned out our drive with his snow blower yesterday, so hopefully it won't take long to shovel the snow we got after he was finished.. I have been afraid to look outside and see how much snow fell overnight. If it's too bad, I will be out helping my hubby shovel, which means no time for crafting today.

As promised yesterday, I have another sympathy card to share with you. I haven't been using my embossing folders very much lately and so I pulled them out to make some quick and simple cards.

My card today was created using another Darice embossing folder. This flourish with butterflies is one of my favorites.

Once the card front was embossed, I stamped the sentiment (Stamping Sensation's "Perfectly Said" rubber stamp set) using Black India Ink. Then with my Fancy Butterfly die set, I cut three butterflies and adhered them to my card with glue. Three white pearls were added for the body of each butterfly.

As you can see, I once again forgot to add ribbon. For this card, I am leaning toward using 1/2" Black Organdy ribbon.

Guess I better check to see if my hubby needs help shoveling the drive. Happy Crafting!

Butterfly Sympathy

With the bad weather we have had over the weekend here in Northeast Ohio, I was able to get into my work room and work ahead on my Sisterhood challenges. Now that I am a couple of challenges ahead, I decided to start on some much needed sympathy cards. Today's card features the Darice "Cattails" embossing folder.

After embossing the card front, I then stamped the sentiment using Black India Ink and a stamp from Stampin' Up's "Warmest Regards" stamp set. Then I die cut the butterflies with my Memory Box "Dancing Butterflies" die.  I like the clean and simple look of this card.

I was in such a hurry to get this card posted, I forgot to add the ribbon, which will be 1/4" black satin.

I plan on staying in most of the day and work on more cards. However, I do have to take my daughter to work this afternoon and babysit my granddaughter. Hope they get the streets plowed before 2pm.
The weather report was calling for 10 inches of snow by this morning. We had three inches on the ground by 1pm yesterday.

Oh well, such is life in Ohio. Thanks for visiting with me today. Stop by tomorrow for a look at another sympathy card.

Happy Ground Hog Day!

Terri
