Vintage Skater

It looks like Northeast Ohio will get a short break from the icy cold temperatures for the next few days. Going from 20 degrees and colder to 40 degrees with rain today and 50's through Thursday. Hopefully, I will have time to thaw out before the next Arctic Clipper hits.

Diane is our hostess for the first challenge of the New Year at the Sisterhood of Crafters. Your challenge is to use any of the themes/words mentioned below to create your project.

Growing up we would head to the nearest park to spend the day ice skating and sledding. Unfortunately, because of changes made to the lakes and ponds there isn't anywhere to skate now.

For my project I chose this beautiful vintage picture of an ice skater for the focus.
DCWV snowflake designer paper was used fir the background. Next I cut a piece of red/white pine trees designer paper for one mat, then layered a piece of black card stock onto the red to mat the picture. The snowflake corner pieces were cut on my Silhouette Cameo and adhered with craft glue.
I found these beautiful blue snowflake gems at the local dollar store. Perfect for some added bling. Last I stamped the sentiment with Black India ink onto white card stock and matted with a strip of black. Pop dots were used to give dimension to the sentiment.

My talents for skating were limited to forward, backward and skating on one foot. Now being quite a few years older and a few pounds heavier, I doubt that I could even stand up on the ice in skates. I have a hard enough time standing upright in boots.

Why not head on over to the Sisterhood and check out the inspiration projects my sistahs have for you today? You have until 8pm Sunday, January 22nd to enter. Limit of 3 entries per person.

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by to visit with me.

Hugs,
Terri

  1. Fabulous vintage skater Terri! Yes, we used to skate in our younger years too (much younger...lol) as we lived in the country but had a fire station and park near by which had tennis courts and the fire dept. would hose the tennis court for the kids to skate on, it was so much fun...great memories brought on by your beautiful card!

  2. Love this image and how you've showcased it Terri! So, so pretty! It's been several years since I tried skating ... think at this point I'll leave it to the younger ones, I'd probably break my neck if I tried it today! LOL
