This week I want to share some note cards I made during my playdate with Darlene. The images are from Nice Crane Designs and Dar shared them with me. Aren't they gorgeous?

The background paper is DCWV. I used a Spellbinder Nestibilities border and Stampin' Up Blush Pink cardstock for the top border.

I'm Baaaaaaack....

This past year was very hectic for me. Due to federal and state budget cuts our library was forced to cut hours and staff. Our community was generous and passed a levy last year so we could try to recoup. However, we got hours back, but we are still short staffed. In the past year, we lost four part-time employees and only two were replaced. Things are starting to slow down and I hope to have more time for crafting.

I was so excited to spend this past Tuesday with my friend, Darlene. With Dar's inspiration and some vintage images she so generously shared with me, I was able to create 16 cards. I would like to share 4 sympathy cards I made using Nice Crane Designs images.

While on vacation this week, I have been working on getting my craft room in order. Although it is not completely finished, I do have room to start creating again. It is wonderful to be back and to share future projects with you.

Let's Hear It For The Boys!

Ribbon and Brads, Oh My!

I am excited to be the hostess for the challenge at the Sisterhood. This week's challenge is to use ribbon and brads on your creation. My images "Grandma's Parlor" and "Maltese" are from Wink Wink Ink. My inspiration came from my maltese "Max" who loves to sit beside me on the sofa or a chair. Offray brown gingham ribbon was used to create the baseboard and brads are the center of the pillows. I used pop dots to give a 3-D effect to some of the images. The background papers and letter tiles are from ?

Valentine Fairy

This week at the Sisterhood of Crafters, Darlene is hosting the "In Love with Valentine's" challenge. My image "Wistful Fairy" is from the Delicious Doodles Shop. The background paper is from K & Co's Valentine pack. The sentiment was cut from another paper in this pack. The image was colored with artist colored pencils (an off brand). The colors are much brighter than this picture shows. The sleeves and waist sash are lavender and her wings are silver. (I am trying to get the hang of a new computer and printer.) My creation for the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog Hop is a Christmas Card using Teri's "Little Nut Tree" image. I love to decorate for Christmas and would love to have this tree in my living room. Whispers Sugur Loaf markers were used to color the image. I'm sorry to say I forgot to write down the company that made the background paper. I bought it at Hobby Lobby. I found the pointsettia gems at Joann's Craft Center and the sentiment is from a Christmas vellum sheet I have had for years. Holiday Craft Show

This past Saturday I was thrilled to participate in a craft show with Darlene (darscarftycreations). Although sales weren't great, we did make back the cost of our space and a little cash over that. While Darlene concentrated on individual cards for all occasions, I made sets of Christmas cards, Christmas gift card holders, post-it-note holders and note pads. Our best sellers were Dar's cards and the gift card holders. Customers gave us some great project ideas for next year. All in all, we had a fun day and hope to do the show again next year. Back in Action

Wow! I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted. Well, I'm back and will try to post more often.

Today I want to share two notecards that I made. I would like to make sets of notecards for gifts and hopefully to sell. I fell in love with this floral paper I found at Joann's and decided it would be perfect for Thank You and Thinking of You cards. The base card is ivory cardstock and the scalloped circles are SU's mauve and ivory. I used mauve satin ribbon for the trim and EK success daisy

punch for the border.

This project is on hold for now so I can work on Christmas cards, post-it-note holders, gift card holders, etc. for a craft show in November.

Max's Haircut

Max finally got a haircut yesterday (or should I say a shave?) He had so many mats in his hair they had to clip him really short. He seems to have more energy and is able to sleep better in all this humidity. our new family member. This is Max, a 10 year old Maltese. My sister has health problems that have made it impossible for her to care for him. My husband and I decided to take him so that she will be able to see him occasionaly. He is a a very good dog. He looks a little straggly now, but we have an appointment on July 15th to have him clipped. We are going to get the puppy cut so that he won't be so hot and he will be easier to groom. He is beautiful with long hair, but it is so hard to keep groomed.

A Stitch In Time Challenge

Hostess for the Sisterhood

Good morning! I am excited to be this week's hostess for the Sisterhood challenge. My older daughter is expecting her second child in September and I thought this would be the perfect time to celebrate the birth of our children and grandchildren. I made this scrapbook page in honor of both my daughters' births. It is hard to believe they are now 29 and 25 years old. Seems like only yesterday I was sending them off to Kindergarten. Summer Time

Summer is the challenge this week at Michelle Perkett's Inspiration & Design blog. I used Michelle's image "Penny" from her Etsy shop and colored her with Tombow makers. Unfortunately, this image was so popular, it has sold out. But stop by Michelle's shop to see her other fantastic images. The green background paper and striped umbrella paper is DCWV. Kraft cardstock was used for the sand and the sentiment along with SU Chocolate Chip cardstock and ink. Embellishments are a frog button and prima flowers. I'm So Excited!

This week I am guest hostess at Digital Two for Tuesday. Every Tuesday, Cora offers two vintage images for you to use in your creations. My images for this week are "Child 4" and "Child 5". The girl in the garden (child 4) was colored using Tombow markers. The flower background paper is from DCWV. I used Nestibilities labels to make the mat for the image and edged the paper with a gold marker. The grow sticker and butterfly sticker are from K & Company, accented with prima flowers and pink gingham ribbon. Doesn't the girl look like she is thinking deep thoughts? For the boy with the birds (child 5) I used prisma pencils and thinner to color the image. The striped background paper is DCWV and the Diamond paper is by Paper Pizzaz. Again I used a set of Nestibilities labels to cut out the image and the mat. Then used dimensional dots to raise the image. The mat was embossed with the Cuttlebug and edged with a copper pen. What fun this challenge turned out to be. The dard base is white cardstock and the paper is DCWV. I purchased the silk flowers from Joann's and used my scallop punches to make the large flowers out of DCWV designer paper. Mother's Day Challenge

Today the challenge at Michelle Perketts Inspiration and Design blog is to make a Mother's Day card. I chose to make an easel card using Michelle's "Thank You" Image. The designer paper is by K & Company and the lime green cardstock is from Hollo's Papercraft Store. The flower buttons were purchase last weekend at the Adventures in Stamping convention in Akron, Ohio. Pearls were used for the flower centers and image was colored with prisma colored pencils and thinner. Pink Satin ribbon was used to make the bow and as a backdrop for the buttons. One Project Two Challenges

The challenge last week at the Sisterhood was a recycled project and the April 5th challenge at Michelle Perkett's Challenge blog was "Anything But a Card." I decided this box fit the description for both challenges. The box was a white gift boxes given to me from a friend and the ring is made from pipe cleaners. I used DCWV designer paper to cover the box and the flower is made with a circle scallop punch. The image is from Michelle Perkett of Enchanted Inspirations.

Debut Tips, Techniques & Tutorials

Today on the Sisterhood blog, Kim has challenged us to make something using a stamp, punches or diecut for something other than for what the tool was intended to be used. I chose to make a bookmark using my scalloped circle punches and a Marvy flower punch. The template for the bookmark came from June at the Stamp Pad in Zoar. Why not hop on over to the Sisterhood and give this challenge a try?

The bookmark is 2" by 11" folded in half. I used a 2", 1 3/4", and 1 1/2" punches to cut the circles. Then I cut the circles apart, using two scallops for each petal. Glue dots were used to hold the petals together. The center is flower using the Marvy flower punch and a flower gem. The Marvy flower punch was also used to create the flowers running down the bookmark. Gems were used for the center of each little flower. Thanks for stopping by today. Son-in-law's Birthday Card

My son-in-law collects moose, so I thought "Morty the Moose" by Sewn Together would be the perfect image to use on his card. The image was colored with Prismacolor watercolor pencils and blender pen. The sentiment I made on my computer. Other details:

I love the colors Pattie chose for our challenge this week. It makes me think of Spring and I am so ready for warm weather. This image is called "Arianna" and it is one of my favorites from Michelle. The designer paper is by DCWV and the image was colored with watercolor pencils and blender pens. I also used SU More Mustard and Passion Pink for the matting. This image from Digital Two for Tuesday made me think of Spring. It is title Fairy 1 and I think she looks like she is doing a dance. I'm sure all of those who live in the part of the country that has had a lot of snow will be doing a Spring Dance as soon as the first flowers bloom. Now for the details about my card. The image was colored with prisma watercolor pencils and a blender pen. The paper is from DCWV. I had a chance to work on some of my digi images today. After coloring a few images, I decided to use this rose image from Delicious Doodles by Teri. I used Basic Grey papers for the background. The image was colored with Prisma watercolor pencils and a blender pen. I then used the Nestabilities Scalloped Circles to create the mat. I can't believe Christmas will be here in just three days. On Christmas Eve my husband and I will be attending the Christmas service with my daughter and her family. Christmas Day, my older daughter will be hosting Christmas dinner for our family and her husband's mom and dad. We always have a wonderful time. Of course, the highlight of the day will be watching our two year old granddaughter opening presents.

Michelle also asked us to share a Christmas wish that we had for a friend, family member etc. My Christmas wish is for a young mom who attends my card technique classes at our local library. At the end of October, mom, who is expecting her second child in January was rushed to the hospital in respiratory failure. The doctors weren't sure she would make it through the weekend. She was put on a respirator and the hope was that she would be breathing on her own by Thanksgiving. Thanks to the many prayers of family, friends, local churches etc. she made a miraculous recovery and was able to go home the week before Thanksgiving. My wish is to give her a basket of stamping supplies so that she and her mom can make cards while she recooperates.

The Digital-Ink Challenge this week is a sketch using a digital image. I chose this cute little pumpkin and crow. The images were colored with prisma pencils and gamsol. The paper is from DCWV's Fall/Holiday pack. The frame was made using the scalloped square nestabilities and was cut from rust cardstock. Penny's challenge this week is to use fall colors and must include trees. I have always loved the stamps in the SU Lovely As A Tree set. The papers were given to me by a friend and I think they might be DCWV. The top of the tree was colored with SU Markers in olive green, pumpkin pie and royal red using the "Thumping" technique and the trunk of the tree was colored with an SU Chocolate Chip marker. Sorry it has been awhile since my last post. I have been fighting a sinus infection for over a week. The antibiotic is working and I am starting to get my voice back. Still feel very tired, especially after a long day at work. I have the weekend off and I'm hoping to get back into my craft room to work on challenges for this week. October Card Class

This month's card class will be on Saturday, October 24th. The white panel on this sample card was done using the "melted crayon" technique. There are two ways to do this technique: one is to cover your iron with foil, set iron to medium heat, and apply crayon to foil when iron is hot (be careful not to burn yourself), then iron onto paper. The second is to place a sheet of wax paper down on a flat surface, shave choice of crayon colors onto sheet of paper or cardstock, then cover with another sheet of wax paper, cover with newsprint paper or old cloth and iron to melt crayon. I used the second method for my card. The card base is white cardstock, and the printed paper and image are from Joann's Fall/Holiday pack. White organdy ribbon was used for the bow.

For the color combo sketch at Digital-Ink Co I chose the scarecrow digi stamp by Dustin Pike. The basecard is SU Green Galore and the designer paper is from Basic Grey. Scarecrow was colored with watercolor pencils and blender pen, then layered onto black textured cardstock. Light blue braided cord was wrapped around the left side of the card. The leaves were punched using the Creative Memories leave punch borrowed from Darlene. "Changing Seasons" diecut is by K & Company

Penny's Challenge for this week is a sketch challenge. My design began with this stamp set by INKADINKADO called "Nativity." The cardbase is SU Ballet Blue. The designer paper is from Basic Grey. The card was completed by coloring the images with watercolor pencils and blender pen, then layered onto textured black cardstock. The four images were then layered onto Ballet Blue and textured black cardstock. The word image was raised using pop dots. Thanks to Darlene for the black and white ribbon.

Saturday Card Class

Five ladies came to the card technique class at our library on Saturday. I displayed the card I made and gave them the materials to design their cards and make an 8 x 8 scrapbook page. They all did a fantastic job! We used the crinkled chalk technique, but instead of chalks we used ink pads. It always amazes me how many different cards are made from one design. The ladies are already looking forward to next month's class. I'd better get busy and decided on a technique. Have a great day everyone and thanks for visiting my blog.

On Friday, my friend Jane (aka sunnyj - splitcoaststampers) told me about a scrapbook store that was going out of business. Everything was marked down 70%. Of course, the shopper in me said I needed more stamps, punches, etc. I really broke the bank this time. My husband couldn't believe how much I purchased. Fall Is On The Way

On Saturday, September 26th, I will be teaching another card technique class at our public library. Since Fall is almost upon us and it is my favorite time of year, I made this fall card using the Crinkled Chalk technique. Instead of Color Box chalks I used SU Summer Sun, Old Olive and Only Orange ink pads. The card base is SU Close to Cocoa cardstock and the pattern paper is from a fall pack I purchased at Joann's. I think it turned out pretty good.

Stamp Playdate

Today was a very good day. Five of us met at Darlene's for a day of snacking and stamping. Lana, Carol, Carolyn (Darlene's daughter), Darlene & I had a great time sharing tips, stamps, paper, ideas, etc. I actually made three cards, punched out some ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns thanks to Carol and her Halloween punches and colored a lot of images I had already stamped. I will try to get some of these things uploaded before I go back to work on Monday. We each brought things to put into the grab-bag basket & names were drawn during the day for prizes. Some of the items given away were: stamps, ribbon, stamp wheels and envelopes. We are already looking forward to another playdate in the near future and we will focus on watercolor techniques with watercolor pencils, markers and watercolor crayons.

Meeting at Darlene's for another playdate on Friday. At last count, we had about 6 people planning on being there. Darlene always has great snacks and someone always brings chocolate to help us concentrate. As soon as I finish this post I am going to pack my camera so I can take pictures of our fun. Fun-filled Day

I went to pick my younger daughter up to do some shopping for paint, flooring,ect. today. However, when I got to her apartment (a 30 minute drive) she was still in bed with a terrible cold. After about an hour visit, I returned home and talked my husband into an hour drive to Hollo's Papercraft in Brunswick, Ohio. He wasn't really in a mood to drive that far, but decided he would go along just to keep me company. He couldn't believe all the paper and paper supplies. He actually made a couple of purchases and admitted he was glad I talked him into getting out of the house for awhile. On our way home, we stopped for lunch at El Rincon (an authentic Mexican food restaurant). All in all a really good day.
