Pictures of Playdate

Darlene was a gracious hostess for our playdate yesterday. She even provided a fantastic lunch of tuna salad, potato salad and fruit salad.

Lana showed us how to use her new slicer die cut machine.

I was having a hard time deciding on an image to use on my first card.

After making a couple of cards, I decided to color some of my digital images from Mo's Digital Pencil.

Sandy stopped by after work to visit with us and do a little coloring.

Lana shows off the two Halloween cards she made for her grandchildren.

These are the Halloween die cuts that were left after everyone finished their cards. Most of these die cuts were too big for cards, but would be great for scrapbook pages.

Lana and Darlene thought I needed a little embellishing for Halloween. What do you think?

We always have a great time getting together to stamp, share materials and tips and techniques. How lucky I am to have such wonderful and creative friends. Can't wait till we get together again.

Playdate at Darlene's

Darlene, Lana and I had a wonderful time today making cards. I forgot to take my camera, but Darlene has promised to email me the pictures she took, so I can upload them to my blog. It's great to get together to share ideas, tools, embellishments, etc. Darlene prepared a fantastic lunch and Lana brought chocolate to keep us going.

Friends Playdate

Today I am off to Darlene's (aka akronstamperdpk) to do some creating. We have a lot of fun getting together from time to time to share stamps, tips and techniques. Lana (aka stampin bear) is joining us. Unfortunately, three other ladies were not able to come. I will try to post pictures tonight.

New Cards

Here are two cards I made today using images from Mo's Digital Pencil. The "Prairie Girl" was colored with SU colored pencils and a blending pen. I used the EK Success Victorian Lace punch in each corner and embellished with pink satin jewelry cord. I found the vintage paper at a local discount outlet. I used the "Bride & Groom" image for the "Last Dance". I used Nestabilites for the mats behind the little girl and the frame around the bride & groom. Flowers in the corner are silk flowers and prisma flowers.

Another Challenge Entry

This is my card for the monochromatic challenge at http://ssdschallenge.blogspot.com/. The stamp set by StaceyStamps has become my favorite set to use for the moment. I had made the card base for the MMSC15 challenge, but didn't like the way it was turning out. Thought it would be perfect for this new challenge. What do you think?

MMSC15 Sketch Challenge

Had hoped to get my card made and posted for today's challenge. Unfortunately, I had to run to the post office, the bank, the grocery store and be at work by 11a.m. In the middle of all this, my DH called from work just to talk. (I love him dearly, but sometimes he has terrible timing.) Hopefully, I will be able to get my card done and posted after work tomorrow. Have a good evening everyone.

Album Removed

You may have noticed that my artwork album has been removed from my blog. I have had trouble with the image not appearing and decided to remove this element until I figure out what is causing the problem. Hopefully, by the time I finish this posting the air conditioner will have cooled my craft room down and I will be able to do some creating. It has been very humid here the last few days and I don't take the humidity very well. Have a restful creative day!

Day Off

Since the library is closed on Thursdays, I am going to do a little shopping and then home to do some cleaning in my craft room and computer room. I also have a 2 day weekend because the library will be closed on Saturday for the Grand parade. That sets our Saturday schedule back a week, so I won't work a Saturday till August 29th. Today I need to pick up the flowers we will be using for our card technique class that day. Hope to have a little time to make some cards. Have a great day!

Card Compliments

I have received so many compliments on my card for this week's challenge at Midnight Madness. A big thanks to Darlene for letting me borrow her stamp for this image. I usually have a hard time coming up with a design, but this image was a great inspiration. It only took about 15 minutes to put this card together. I definately need to buy some more vintage stamps. Well, it's off to work for me. Hope to get a chance to check out the other cards for the challenge when I get home tonight. Have a great day ladies!

Some "Thank You" Blog Candy!
Hi everyone! As I mentioned earlier in the week, I've reached over 25,000 blog hits. When I logged onto my blog this morning, I realized that I now have over 100 followers also. I think it's time for some more Appreciation Blog Candy! All of you who visit my blog have been so supportive and encouraging, and I can't thank you enough for your continued visits. This blog candy will be just like the last. I will purchase a gift card or gift certificate to the place of your choice. I think that kind of blog candy works out well so that you can get what you want. Instead of using comments to enter, I think we're going to try the Mr. Linky thing. Then I can randomly choose a number and not have to cut up hundreds of pieces of paper. All you need to do is post about this blog candy on your blog and then link your post below. Please use a direct link to your post rather than to your blog in general. I will delete general blog links. If Mr. Linky is not working, go ahead and leave me a comment with your link. As soon as it is up and running again, I will upload it for you. To be fair to everyone, I'd appreciate it if you'd only enter once. :) If you do not have a blog and would like to be entered, leave me a comment, with your contact details, and I will add a number for you to the end.You have until Friday, August 28th at 10pm (central) to enter. On the 29th, I will randomly choose a winner. Easy right? Oh, and I guess the most important part is that you're entering for a chance at $150. Hope you're as excited about this as I am! Don't forget to tell your friends!Much Love!

Comfort for Military Spouses

If you love to help out with great causes, then please check out Jess' Scrapbook Assortments blog at http://jesskittelson.blogspot.com for all the details. You may win some blog candy by sending sympathy cards to Jess to be given to spouses who lose a loved one in the military.

Kick-Off Parade

We had a wonderful time participating in the Carnation Festival Kick-Off Parade. Eight children and three parents marched behind the library van for the half-hour parade. The children had decorated bikes, wagons and even a battery operated Barbie car. Unfortunately it was 90 degrees and very humid. I was fortunate enough to drive the van with the air conditioning on. The children were very excited and had a lot of fun waving to the people lined up along the street.

Carnation Festival

Today is the beginning of the Carnation Festival. The week is filled with lots of family activities. We have decorated the library van and will be in the Kick-Off parade. Children are not permitted to march in the Grand Parade, so we have a half hour long parade just for them. The fire department, city officials, police department, baton twirling teams, bands and the children march from the downtown area to the High School parking lot. Looks like I won't get much stamping done today. Have a great day everyone.

Card Class

Each month for the past three months I have been teaching a card technique class at our local library. I have had 6 ladies each month and they are having so much fun. This month we will be learning the Baby Wipe technique. This is the card we will make this month. The ladies make a technique card to place on a ring, a greeting card and an 8" x 8" scrapbook page using the technique.

Shopping Day

Instead of creating today, my husband and I are off to our younger daughter's house to get supplies to redo our kitchen and bathroom. My daughter and her boyfriend have generously offered to plaster the ceilings in both rooms, tear down wallpaper and paint. How lucky can we get? So while you all are making cards and doing other creative things, be thinking of us as we try to come together on decisions on paint color, flooring, etc. Have a great day!

Darlene, the pictures of our stamping day look great on your blog. I do have one request though. Could you get a camera that has a narrow angle lens? I could use a few pounds taken off.

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge

This is the card I created tfor the MMSC13 sketch challenge. I can hardly wait each week for the next sketch. It is wonderful to see all the cards these talented artists create. This is also a great way for new stampers to learn to think outside the box and learn new techniques.

First Time Blogger

Until this past year, I didn't even know what a blog was. Thanks to my friend, Darlene, I have decided to give it a try. Please bear with me as I work my way through all the setting up. Darlene assured me that this was very easy. (You were kidding, right Darlene?) To be honest, I was a computer illiterate until I started working at our local library 9 years ago. I am able to scan pictures and save them to albums on my computer and that's about as far as my computer knowledge goes.

Darlene also told me about the Midnight Madness weekly challenge. I look forward to each week's sketch. It has helped me to start thinking outside the box. If you haven't tried this sketch challenge yet, log onto http://priscillastyles.blogspot.com every Tuesday and give it a try. Hope to hear from more stampers.
