Butterfly Birthday Wishes

Have you had a chance to stop by the sisterhood for the new "Monochromatic" challenge? I really enjoyed working on this challenge. Most of my projects use accent colors, but I was lucky enough to find a background paper that worked perfectly with my base cardstock color. Once I found my cardstock and designer paper, everything came together rather quickly. The recipe follows my photo.

Recipe:

Cardstock: SU Sage

Designer Paper: DCWV

Embellishments: White Lace, Butterfly stickers

Sentiment: printed from computer (sentiment sheet found on pinterest)

Okay everyone. Time to hop over to the sisterhood for more inspiration and to enter your project to our challenge.

Have a great day!

Lotus Flower

The new challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such is to create a project using stickers. I chose this black outlined lotus flower colored with Spectrum Noire markers on glittered paper. My friend, Darlene, made the paper using double sided sticky sheets, then covered paper with glitz ultra fine glitter. What a fun and beautiful technique. Will definitely use this techniqe again.

Recipe:

Papers: DCWV Green Foiled Cardstock, DP by Kay, White cardstock

Image: Lotus Flower Sticker

Rub On: Dream Quotes by Royal & Langnickel Brush Mfg.

Embellishment: White Lace

Dies: Spellbinders scalloped oval and decorative oval frame.

I love the foiled cardstock by DCWV. I purchased a 6 x 6 pack of this cardstock. It has 24 sheets of the
most beautiful colors including blue, gold, silver and copper.

The sentiment is by Mark Twain and says "Always do right, this will gratify some people and astonish the rest." I used pop dots to add depth to the sentiment panel then layered on top of the flower panel.

Well, that's all for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Classy Cards 'n Such Challenge Winner

Doing the "happy dance". Just found out I am the winner of the Classy Cards 'n Such challenge #36. The challenge was to "Make Your Own Background." My friend Dar showed me how to use stencils and let me borrow her beautiful butterfly stencil to make this card. As the winner, I will receive the beautiful Memory Box Butterfly Vines stencil. I am so excited and can't wait to make more backgrounds.

The butterfly and frame look black, but in reality are cocoa brown. I had thought about adding brown organdy ribbon on the left side, but now I'm not sure. What do you think? Ribbon or no ribbon? Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Thanks for visiting with me today.

Butterfly Get Well

I have another card to share with you today. This card was made using one of my friend, Darlene's stencils. Isn't this a beautiful background? It was created using the Memory Box Butterfly Vines stencil and Tim Holtz distressed ink. This card will be entered into the Classy Cards n' Such "Make Your Own Background Challenge". The winner of this challenge will receive the Butterfy Vines Stencil. Why not stop by the Classy Cards n' Such Challenge blog and enter your creation?

Thank you for dropping by today. Happy Crafting!

Friendly Play Date

Yesterday I was lucky to have a play date with my dear friend, Darlene. We decided to work on cards for the challenges. It was so much fun sharing stencils, dies, embossing folders, paper, inks and stamps. Using the Memory Box Bubbles Stencil, I made this beach themed card. I really like the way it turned out.

Using Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Pads, I sponged a light blue over the bubbles, then created the shadows using a berry pink. The flip flop strip and the larger flip flops were die cuts and the sentiment and sun were stamped with black ink.

I am entering this card in the Classy Cards n' Such challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge. Hop on over and take a look. You might want to play along.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

June Bride

Good morning everyone! Are you ready for a new and fun challenge over at the Sisterhood? I am thrilled to be the host for the next challenge "Wedding." As most of you know, I love the vintage look (thanks to my friend, Darlene) so I chose this vintage photo from Pinterest as a starting point. From there, it just seemed to come together quickly. One of my favorites places to find embellishments is in the wedding department at a local craft store. I can usually find a nice selection of pearls (such as the pearl spray on this card), flowers, etc. Since I don't have any upcoming weddings, this card will go in my stash for craft shows.

 Recipe:

Papers: DCWV Linen and Lace, White cardstock for card base

Ink: SU Close to Cocoa

Flowers: Petaloo

Ribbon: Sheer Pink Dot Organdy

Sentiment: SU Fancy Flexible Phrases

When I found this beautiful brocade inspired background paper, I knew I had to make another wedding card. It is hard to tell from this picture, but the paper has silver threads and leaves woven throughout. I have listed the other materials after the photo.

Recipe:

Card Base: White cardstock
Dies: Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly, Caserta Bloom
Punches: SU 1 3/8 scalloped punch, 1 1/4 circle punch
Sentiment: from Pinterest
Embellishments: White Satin Ribbon, White Pearls

Please leave a comment, I love hearing from you. Before you go, don't forget to stop by the Sisterhood and leave a little love for the sistahs. Check out their projects for inspiration and play along.

Have a great day!
